Called of God
“But he knoweth the way
that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” Job 23:10
“Also
I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go
for us?’ Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8
“My
brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing
this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye
may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:2-4 We are all called by God to be
workers in His kingdom.
Each of us has a Position to fill (1 Cor
12:12) in the body of Christ, so that we can accomplish God’s Purposes
(Acts 26:16).
This includes a Plan for your life (Jer.
1:5) and a Path that He will lead you down (Psa. 31:3, Isaiah 58:11).
It is the “path” that is so scary to many of us.
If God were to reveal only one portion of His
call to us; we would be so satisfied to know the plan, position, or purpose
that God has in store for us.
Yet if He showed us the path we will have to
travel, how many of us would stop and go no further?
We can only imagine, what if God had showed
Joseph, David, or Daniel (and many others) the path they would go down
beforehand without a glimpse of his plan/purpose?
Many of our paths contain hard
rocks, slippery slopes, and dark areas that we will go through (some of us
are going through this now.)
The
path is hard and seems lonely at times when we experience loss of family,
sickness, conflicts, etc.
Many experiences like these are pivotal moments
in our perception of life; causing us to reevaluate our life.
We must remember though that it is a part of the
path and it did not take God by surprise.
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever;
and his plan and purpose for you have not changed.
God’s faithfulness in the Bible reminds us that
He is always in control, and has a glorifying purpose behind it all.
