Let it Go
“You shall love the Lord
your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your
strength” Deut 6:5
"Jesus
said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to
the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." But
when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had
great possessions.” Matthew 19:21-22 Do you have a secret stash?
Is there a place where you have things ‘hidden’
away, so that the items are protected from others?
It could be a place where you keep a prized
collectible, family heirloom, or significant item of special meaning to you.
It could also be a section of your mind,
described in a Rascal Flatts song, “Where
your hopes and dreams and wishes live, Where you keep the rest of your life
hid.”
We only let those who we really trust, see these
things.
Did you know that God wants to be invited there?
I believe it is part of our nature
to desire control of our situations.
Some of the most stressful and terrifying parts
of our lives come when we feel we have no control (hydroplaning cars,
sickness, death.)
God created man to be responsible for His
creation; however it becomes a problem when we try to control God also.
Since Adam, man has almost always tried to do
things in his own way.
(Cain tried to give an offering on his own
terms, the people tried to build a tower to meet God at God is sovereign and must have
control of our lives.
This includes all areas, including mind and
emotions.
You may have been taught that it is not right to cry;
but if the Spirit moves you, and you don’t, it is then that you sin.
You may call it staying strong, or keeping
composure, just be sure that God doesn’t call it sin. |
